Mexico City Announces New Saturday Driving Rules

The 'Hoy No Circula' program establishes measures applicable to vehicular traffic, with the objective of preventing, minimizing, and controlling the emission of pollutants. In order to standardize and minimize the impact in the Megalopolis, Mexico City, and the State of Mexico, this measure was established to limit the circulation of private vehicles, regardless of the origin of the license plates. Different from the program used from Monday to Friday, the cars that do not circulate will depend on both the hologram and the last digit of the plates, divided between even (0-2-4-6-8) and odd (1-3-5-7-9). On Saturdays, it will be vehicles with hologram 2 and plates without a number. It is important to mention that vehicles with Hologram 1 and an odd plate ending also do not circulate on the first and third Saturday of each month.

What time does Hoy No Circula start? The 'Hoy No Circula Sabatino' applies with the same restrictions as the regular one, it starts at 05:00 hours and ends until 22:00.

What day is there no Hoy No Circula? The only day on which Hoy No Circula does not apply to any vehicle is Sunday, that day is excluded from any type of restriction.
